Tourist visitors who are citizens of the United Kingdom (including British Overseas Territories Citizens), Canada or the United States are not required to produce a passport. However, they must be in possession of an original or notarized birth certificate or an original or notarized naturalization certificate together with a round trip or through ticket showing that they are entitled to proceed or return to some place in a country or territory by virtue of their citizenship or residence.

Residents of the United States of America

A person resident in the United States of America who-

arrives in the Cayman Islands directly from that country;
on landing, produces a valid United States Alien Registration Card; and
produces a return or round trip ticket to that country,

may be permitted to enter and remain in the Islands for a period not exceeding thirty days.

Residents of Canada

A person resident in Canada who-

arrives directly from the United States of America or Canada;
on landing, provides proof that he is a permanent resident or landed immigrant of Canada; and
produces a return or round trip ticket to the United States of America or Canada,

may be permitted to enter and remain in the Islands for a period not exceeding thirty days.

Residents of the United Kingdom

A person resident in the United Kingdom who-

arrives directly from the United Kingdom;
on landing, provides proof that he is a permanent resident or landed immigrant of the United Kingdom; and
produces a return or round trip ticket to the United Kingdom,

may be permitted to enter and remain in the Islands for a period not exceeding thirty days.

Note: Persons who have been allowed to enter will be given a form by the immigration officer which they must retain and submit to an immigration officer at the time of their departure.

Exemptions for Jamaican Nationals

you are not a prohibited immigrant* and you can satisfy an Immigration Officer on arrival in the Cayman Islands that you are:
1. authorised by a work permit to work in the Cayman Islands; or
2. named in a work permit as a dependant of the licensee; or
3. exempted from the requirement to possess a work permit or a dependant of such a person under section 40 of the Immigration Law (2007 Revision); or
4. a person who has permission to reside permanently in the Cayman Islands; or
5. the holder of a valid re-entry permit

you are resident in the United States of America; and you arrive directly from that country; and you produce on arrival a valid United States Alien Registration Card; and you produce on arrival a return or round trip ticket to the United States.

you are resident in Canada; and you arrive directly from Canada or the USA; and you produce on arrival proof that you are a permanent resident or landed immigrant of Canada; and you produce on arrival a return or round trip ticket to Canada or the United States.

you are resident in the United Kingdom; and you arrive directly from the United Kingdom; and you provide proof on arrival that you are a permanent resident or landed immigrant of the United Kingdom; and you produce on arrival a return or round trip ticket to the United Kingdom.

Note:

Please note that persons taking advantage of the waiver of the visa requirement under (b) to (d) above may only be permitted to enter and remain in the Islands for a period not exceeding thirty days.

* Prohibited immigrants are defined in full in the Immigration Law (2007 Revision) but include the destitute, the mentally disordered, persons creating health hazards to the community, anyone reasonably believed to be a prostitute or living on prostitution, anyone previously deported, anyone convicted in any country of an offence for which a prison sentence of twelve months or more was imposed, and others declared to be undesirable immigrants for economic or moral reasons.

General information

You should not purchase your airline ticket until your visa has been issued. But please note that the Caymanian authorities require you to have a return ticket when you arrive in the Cayman Islands.

If you have a valid visa you will not normally be refused entry to the Cayman Islands unless your circumstances have changed, or you gave false information or failed to disclose important facts when you applied for your visa;

Visas are generally valid for six months. This means that you must use them within this period of time. Please note that when you arrive in the Cayman Islands you are likely to be given permission to enter the Cayman Islands for thirty days. The Immigration Officer will advise you on the procedure to follow if you wish to stay longer than this period.

Only persons aged 14 to 79 years need to attend in person.

A person whose application for a visa has been refused may not re-apply until a period of twelve months has elapsed following the date of his last application, unless the visa issuing officer in his discretion reduces that period.
