Cayman Airways Pilot, Captain Chris McTaggart, along with reservations agent Sharron Thompson and former group reservations agent David Barry, each submitted the name “Cayman Skies” for consideration in a special re-naming competition among all Cayman Airways staff. An internal review committee unanimously chose the name out of more than 200 submissions, revising it slightly to include the airline’s full name.

Capt. Chris McTaggart emerged the official prize winner following a drawing between the top three. He wins a weekend for two in Miami, Florida, donated by the magazine’s new publishers HCP/Aboard Publishing. Cayman Airways added two confirmed tickets to Miami to complete the package.

“I’m very excited about the new in-flight magazine and I’m thrilled to have been part of its development,” said Capt. McTaggart, adding that he’s looking forward to seeing the first issue in September.

Noting that it was necessary to find a name for the new magazine since the previous publication Horizons was owned by a private company, Cayman Airways CEO Designate Olson Anderson commented: “The name Cayman Airways Skies reflects the new business model and repositioning of the magazine as a true in-flight publication for Cayman Airways. We thank all our employees who participated in this exercise so enthusiastically, and congratulate the top three finalists.”
